About the Artist

Jaunie Schooley Fine Art
Contemporary Impressionist
Jaunie is a Northern California-based artist who brings the beauty of the outdoors to life through her expressive plein air and studio paintings. Working in oil, pastel, gouache, and acrylic, she captures the fleeting moments of light, color, and atmosphere that define a landscape.
Plein air painting-French for "open air"—is the practice of painting outdoors, directly from life. For Jaunie, it's an immersive experience, a dance between nature's ever-changing moods and the artist's hand. Whether it's the golden glow of a vineyard at sunset, the misty hush of a redwood forest, or the vibrant streets of a faraway city, her work transports the viewer to that moment, evoking the feeling of being there. A passionate traveler and lover of the natural world, Jaunie seeks out new landscapes to explore and interpret. Her contemporary impressionist style blends bold, expressive brushwork with a keen sensitivity to light and atmosphere. She is an active member of several art associations and has studied under renowned artists Paul Kratter, Richard Lindenberg, and Christine Lashley, to name a few. Through her art, Jaunie invites others to see the world as she does-alive with color, movement, and emotion.
